Tattoo Law
We learn from the Baxter Bulletin:
Tattooing without a license is punishable by a maximum $500 fine and one month in jail. Tattooing a minor without parental consent is a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum fine of $200.
The state Legislature in 2001 passed a bill that requires parental consent for body piercing, branding, or tattooing of any minor and authorizes the regulation of those activities by state and local health officials.
According to the law, anyone under 18 seeking a tattoo must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must produce photo identification and attest in writing that the individual is the minor’s parent or legal guardian.
This is serious news in the North Central Arkansas Tattoo Capitol.
