Matt Waddell, a product manager for Google Mobile, in a Reuters Interview says, “We have very much hit a watershed moment in terms of mobile Internet usage. We are seeing that mobile Internet use is in fact accelerating.”
He also says iPhone users perform as many as 50 times more Web searches on these computer-phone devices as users of standard mobile feature phones typically do.
Today I was searching for birthday ideas for my mom and I came across Olive Garden’s Web Videos. This is exciting to see more and more restaurants getting the idea that you can communicate with the public by means of web videos. They have also setup a YouTube channel, which I think is essential, if you are going to have a video on the Internet, you might as well make it findable. Way to go Olive Garden!
Marc Andreessen thinks this is the BEST. MOVIE. TRAILER. EVER., but do I look like I care what people think? Joining all the others making end of the year predictions for 2008, here are mine.
1. The iPhone will continue to set the user interface standard for internet enabled mobile phones. All other phones will try to catch up while Apple moves ahead.
2. People will mostly search on the iPhone through Google Maps and YouTube, rather than through Safari or Google’s mobile optimized site.
3. Mobile media marketing will best be accomplished by optimizing local search listings on Google Maps and Yahoo Local, by heavily posting metadata-optimized videos on YouTube and other video sharing sites, and by having a mobile internet optimized website/blog where fans can post their comments.
